What
is the IELTS Test? IELTS
(International English Language Testing Service) is an
important English examination used to test English ability
in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and
Canada. Who
requires an IELTS qualification? To
enter into university, college and school courses in the
United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, you need
a certain IELTS level. Other universities that use English,
such as those in Singapore, may similarly require an IELTS
qualification. IELTS is also used for immigration purposes
and in the workplace. How
quickly can I improve my English? You
can expect to increase your English proficiency by half an
IELTS band with every 10 weeks of full-time intensive study.
So if you plan to do further study in a course that uses
English, this is the best program for you. What
does the IELTS Preparation Program involve? Our
IELTS Preparation Program is an intensive course with two
modules: the Academic Module and the General
Module. IELTS Academic Module is a
language requirement for entry to all courses in further and higher education.
This module assesses whether a candidate is ready to study or train at
undergraduate or postgraduate level in an English-language program. The emphasis
is therefore on academic English skills. Note:
IELTS Academic Module
is not recommended for candidates under the age of 16, although you may start
studying with DU English College if you are a mature 15
year-old. IELTS General Training Module is
suitable for candidates who are going to English-speaking countries to complete
their secondary education, undertake training programs or for immigration
purposes. The emphasis is therefore on basic survival English skills. You
would choose the IELTS
Academic Module if you plan to study a tertiary
qualification, such as an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. IELTS General
Training Module
is intended for those planning to study at secondary level (for example, in a
high school), or receive training or move to an English-speaking country to
live. |
